What's an ionic detox foot spa?

How does it work?

Ionic Detox Foot spa treatments are an unusual therapy, based on the research of the medical scientist Dr Royal Rife and is a type of aqua detox.  It aims to improve, among other things, liver and kidney function through an electro-magnetic detoxification process carried out on the feet. The treatment is normally given by placing your feet in water in which an "array" will be activated. The feet have an enormous number of pores - in the order of 2000 in each foot - and thus offers a point of application. Which is both efficient and convenient.

As soon as the apparatus is switched on, gas bubbles form around the electrodes indicating that an electrolytic reaction is taking place. This will happen without any part of the body being in contact with the water: liberated gases will clearly be seen. The water in the foot bath becomes an extension of the water in the body, from which it is separated by nothing more substantial than a thin membrane - the skin.

Water Color Explanation

During the course of an IonicSpa session, the water will most likely change color and bits of foreign matter may appear as sediment. This is to be expected. It is caused by a reaction between the material from a user's body and particles in the water, salt added to the water, the metals in the ionizer array, and the acidity or alkalinity of the user. Please note that the color produced will also depend, to a certain extent, on the chemical impurities of the water in your geographical area. As a general rule, regional toxins can contribute 50 percent or more of the color and residues found in the water after a session. Depending on which country and area you are in, there exist differences in water quality. Because the human body is approximately 80 percent water, the toxins in a user's body will look similar to the predominant geographic toxins; there are usually unique common symptoms corresponding to each geographic area corresponding to the toxins in the region; (for example bad arthritis, bladder, and etc.); you will also find that people from the same region are likely to have very similar color results after an ionicSpa session.

An experience practitioner may be able to speculate, from the color and objects found in the water, which materials and toxins are from your body and/or which organs these materials and toxins may be concentrated. However, due to differences in local water supplies, personal diet, and other variables discussed later, we do not rely on color change alone. It is important to understand that the water will change color and particles may form even if the unit is operating without feet in the water!  This is because of the fact that the color change and objects in the water can be caused by so many factors: for example, the consumption of the metal inside the array; the sea salt added; substances leaving your body through your feet; dissolved material or toxins already present in the local water supply you are using; and even the air surrounding the spa water!

	Before the Ionization Therapy begins, the pH level of the water is 7.2 and it carries a positive charge of 466 mV (millivolts).
	After 10 minutes of Ionization, the pH level has increase to 8.3 and the positive charges of the water have decreased to 156 mV. In other words, in layman terms, the electrolysis process (Ionization) is breaking up the positive charged molecules into negative ones; thus producing ‘dirt-like’ brownish substance in the water.
	After 20 minutes, the pH level has increased to 9.9 and the water is currently filled with negative charges, -231 millivolts.
	When it reaches the end of 30 minutes, the pH level of the water is now 10.4 (highly alkaline) and it is charged with -426 millivolts.

The Meaning of Positive and Negative Polarity

For the purpose of this Ionic Detox Foot Spa discussion, positive and negative relates to electrical rather than chemical phenomena. When the Ionic Detox foot Spa is set to positive, the current is directed to the positive pole, which results in the production of more negative ions in the water. Therefore, a positive polarity generates a negative ion flow which, we believe, raises blood pH from acidic toward alkaline.
